Case Study:
Shared Harmonies
Strategic positioning and rebranding to strengthen Shared Harmonies’ commercial proposition while staying true to its community roots.
The Challenge
Shared Harmonies had built a strong reputation delivering singing programmes across community and workplace settings, but its existing brand no longer reflected the breadth, ambition or expertise of the organisation.
Research revealed a deeper challenge: the commercial offer needed to communicate its value more clearly to organisational buyers, without losing the community purpose and social impact at the heart of Shared Harmonies.
The opportunity was to bring both sides together under one coherent brand, strengthening its commercial positioning while preserving the character and values that had built its reputation.
The Strategy
Research into Shared Harmonies’ audiences, services, competitive landscape and existing communications, supported by stakeholder interviews, helped uncover the central positioning challenge.
Singing is the method, but the value lies in what the shared experience creates.
For workplace audiences this meant communicating outcomes around connection, engagement, wellbeing and organisational development. For community audiences, the emphasis could remain on inclusion, confidence, mental health and belonging.
This became the strategic foundation for the new positioning, messaging and visual identity.
The Identity
The new identity is built around a simple idea: people coming together.
A circular symbol formed from individual elements expresses connection, participation and shared experience, creating a flexible visual device that works across both commercial and community communications.
The wider system combines a confident contemporary typeface, an evolved green palette and warm, people-focused imagery.
Together, these capture the character and humanity of Shared Harmonies while giving the organisation a stronger, more professional presence.
Positioning & Messaging
The repositioning shifted the emphasis from singing itself to the value the experience creates. Shared Harmonies could lead with organisational outcomes for commercial audiences, while retaining its human, community-led character.
A new messaging framework established a clearer hierarchy across the brand, helping different audiences understand both what Shared Harmonies does and why it matters.
